Kingswood Festival for a Future That Works

By | September 23, 2012 | Categories: Uncategorized

South Gloucestershire Unison put on a very successful festival against austerity in Kingswood Park on Saturday 22 September. There were stalls, food and drink, entertainment, music and, of course, speeches. Anne Lemon spoke on behalf of BADACA and called for support for the TUC’s national demonstration in London on 20th October and for its call for “consideration” of a general strike.

Many trade unionists came along and there were also stalls from BADACA, the NUT and Unite. What was great about this event was that large numbers of the general public came too. They may have been out for a stroll in the park but lots of people took leaflets and were made aware that there is resistance to the Coalition’s austerity programme.

Congratulations to Unison for this initiative. We need more like it.
