Bristol Centre for Deaf People is under threat of closure. The Centre which celebrated 125 years in existence two years ago in the presence of HRH The Princes Royal was informed of the devastating news via letter from Bristol City Councils Service Director Netta Meadows. Funding will stop on 1st November 2011.
CEO John Maslen said ”We do not know why this decision was taken; we have provided an excellent service over the years and continue to do so. We have no idea what alternative provision the council have in place”.
Bristol City Council has cut the Centre’s main funding which supports the Core funding, Equipment Service and Special Projects. Without this vital financial life line, the Centre faces no choice but to close its doors.
