Social Work in Danger – Re-imagining Social Work

THURSDAY 23RD JUNE 2011

7.30pm – 9pm

5th Floor Hamilton House, 80 Stokes Croft BS1 3QY

We invite you to join us for an evening to talk together about the worrying changes that are taking place in Social Care in Bristol.

We entered social work – and many still do – out of a commitment to social justice and to make a positive contribution to the lives of people. Instead, we find our work shaped by managerialism and marketisation.

From our perspective, the widening gap between promise and reality breeds a lot of anger and frustration. Social work doesn’t have to be like this. We wouldn’t hang on in if we didn’t still have hope.

There will be contributions by speakers from SWAN, UNISON and Older Peoples Forum

Open to all – building is accessible
